What this site is
PerchPicked publishes research-led buying guidance about backyard-birding gear — feeders, feeder cameras, baths, seed, and related equipment. It is general information to help you shop. It is not professional advice of any kind, and it is not veterinary or wildlife-health advice. We do not run a lab and we do not claim hands-on testing; our method is set out in how we choose.
Birds, feeding, and local guidance
Where our guides touch on feeder hygiene, seed safety, or wild-bird health, we keep to general, published guidance from organizations such as the National Audubon Society and the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, and we cite it. Wildlife agencies sometimes issue regional advisories — including temporary pauses on feeding — and those advisories outrank anything written here. Always follow current guidance from your state or local wildlife agency. If a wild bird appears sick or injured, contact a licensed wildlife rehabilitator or your state wildlife agency rather than acting on a buying guide.
Accuracy, and its limits
We work hard to get specifications and availability right, and we date our guides so you can judge how current they are. Even so: manufacturers change specifications, materials, and model names without notice; products are discontinued and prices move constantly; and seasonal products sell out. Check the current specification and price with the manufacturer and the retailer before you buy. The content on this site is provided as is, without warranties of any kind.
Your yard, your judgment
Choosing and placing backyard gear involves your own property and your own judgment — mounting heights, outdoor electrical connections on heated baths, ladder work, and similar. Nothing on this site is a promise about how a product will perform for you, and nothing here is safety, electrical, or professional advice.
