Walk into the feeder aisle — or search “best bird feeder” — and you meet a wall of near-identical products, recycled marketing claims, and reviews written the day the box arrived. Most backyard birders don’t need more options. They need a straight answer: which feeder fits my yard, which seed brings the birds I actually want, and which “squirrel-proof” claim is honest.
PerchPicked exists to give that answer, with the homework shown.
How we work
We are honest about our method: we are not a testing lab. We don’t hang fifty feeders in a test yard, and we won’t pretend otherwise. What we do instead is disciplined research: manufacturer-verified specifications, species and care guidance from the National Audubon Society and the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, recall screening against U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission notices, and owner reviews read at scale — especially the ones written after month three, when the real flaws show up. Two more promises. Our rankings are not for sale — no paid placements, no sponsored posts, no products in exchange for coverage. And we don’t promise birds: no feeder can guarantee a cardinal, so we tell you what improves your odds and leave the fantasy to others.
